Tree of Love

At times like this, when the world feels topsy turvy and sometimes you forget what day it is, even what season it is! (especially with all this indoors time), we can all benefit from a little crafting to fill the hours, make us forget our worries and create something to brighten our homes .

Forget your troubles and just get messy and creative. It doesn’t need to be planned out, prepped with materials or highly organised with instructions….sometimes you just go with the flow. This one started on a wet, rainy day, Buddy dragged a huge branch all the way home on our daily walk around the block.…declaring it was his ‘tree’…which was then dragged indoors…which then gave me the idea to decorate our bare looking branch with leaves.

I cut out some cardboard leaf shapes for the kids to trace around, we all painted, coloured and drew on the leaves for hours…cutting them out as we went along. We punched holes in the leaves (by far Buddy’s favourite job!) and Frankie strung them up on the tree….et voila! Our Tree of Love is proudly displayed indoors…

It felt like a special project because we all got stuck in and we all had our favourite task. I often think the larger scale projects evolve as you go along..…creating their own sense of play and absorbing the hours (that feel so long at this moment in time!)
